Job Overview The Project Engineer will oversee the planning, design, and construction phases of the highway project in Sabah, working collaboratively to ensure all project milestones are achieved on schedule, within budget, and according to safety and quality standards. This role requires a combination of technical expertise in civil engineering and project management skills to drive project success in coordination with internal teams, contractors, and government agencies. Key Responsibilities : 1. Project Planning and Design Coordination · Develop and oversee project plans, timelines, and engineering specifications for highway construction. · Collaborate with civil and environmental engineers, urban planners, and surveyors to align designs with regulatory requirements. · Analyze topographical and traffic data to design efficient roadway systems that ensure optimal traffic flow and safety. 2. Construction Oversight and Management · Monitor on-site activities to ensure work meets technical specifications and regulatory standards, including conducting regular site inspections. · Supervise contractors and manage on-site engineering teams, ensuring adherence to project schedules and safety guidelines. · Coordinate with utility providers to manage issues related to drainage systems, signage, and road markings. 3. Quality Assurance and Compliance · Ensure that construction quality control and safety standards are upheld, implementing corrective actions where necessary. · Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to address potential issues in the construction phase. · Document and report on project status, including progress updates, resource utilization, and any incidents. 4. Stakeholder and Client Liaison · Serve as a point of contact for government agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project objectives. · Prepare and present technical reports, project updates, and feasibility studies as needed to secure approvals and inform stakeholders. 5. Budget and Resource Management · Develop cost estimates and manage project budgets, tracking expenditures to prevent overruns. · Ensure efficient use of resources by coordinating procurement and allocation of materials, equipment, and labor. Qualifications : Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 5 years in highway or roadway project engineering, with a preference for experience in Malaysia or similar environments. Licensing: Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required. Technical Skills: - Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation. - Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to highway construction. - Familiarity with construction management and site inspection processes. Project Management Skills: - Ability to manage budgets, timelines, and resources effectively. - Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple aspects of large-scale projects. Interpersonal Skills: - Excellent communication skills, with an ability to coordinate across teams and engage with diverse stakeholders. - Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, especially under time-sensitive circumstances. Additional Requirements : - Willingness to travel and work on-site in Sabah as required. - Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
