Role Overview:
The Catering Manager is responsible for overseeing all catering operations, from event planning to execution. The role involves managing a team, liaising with clients, coordinating food and beverage services, and ensuring the highest standards of service. The Catering Manager will work closely with chefs, vendors, and event planners to ensure successful events and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet with clients to discuss their catering needs, including event type, guest count, menu preferences, and special dietary requirements.
- Provide clients with customized catering proposals, ensuring that all details align with their expectations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, managing feedback and addressing concerns promptly.
Event Planning & Coordination:
- Develop event timelines and coordinate catering services for corporate events, weddings, private parties, and other gatherings.
- Collaborate with chefs to design menus that align with client preferences and budget considerations.
- Ensure proper setup and presentation of food and beverages at events, managing staff to ensure smooth service.
Team Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise catering staff, including chefs, servers, and bartenders.
- Schedule and assign duties to the team, ensuring adequate staffing for each event.
- Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork, efficiency, and high standards of service.
Budget & Cost Management:
- Develop and manage catering budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising quality.
- Negotiate with suppliers and vendors for competitive pricing on ingredients, rentals, and other services.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely ordering of supplies to meet event demands.
Operations Management:
- Oversee food preparation and ensure adherence to safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
- Conduct post-event reviews to assess performance and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, ensuring all catering operations are safe and hygienic.
Sales & Marketing:
- Promote catering services to attract new business and expand client base.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement promotional campaigns for catering services.
- Attend industry events and networking functions to build relationships and generate leads.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Business Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in catering management, event planning, or food and beverage services.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in budgeting and cost control.
- Familiarity with food safety and hygiene standards.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in both corporate and private event catering.
- Knowledge of current trends in the catering and food service industry.
- Ability to adapt to last-minute changes and client requests.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to RM5,000.00 per month
