Purpose of the Role
You will be a key member of the SILC plant engineering maintenance team, reporting directly to the Site Engineering Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to manage all plant engineering and maintenance activities related to mechanical systems, electrical components, machinery, and projects. You will collaborate closely with all teams within plant operations and corporate functions.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage engineering projects assigned by your superior, including engineering studies, timeline setting, budget estimation, and overall program coordination.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to investigate breakdowns, conduct fault isolation, and rectify issues with electrical equipment.
- Review existing mechanical designs of machinery and upgrade systems to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Evaluate specifications, engineering drawings, and design concepts for new plants and equipment, ensuring compliance with contract specifications during installation.
- Keep your superior updated on project status and ensure tasks are completed by target dates.
- Prepare necessary documentation, including presentation slides, project proposals, utility consumption studies, machine downtime analyses, incident investigations, work permits, power consumption reports, WI and SOPs.
Responsibilities
- Analyse design, setup, and modifications to systems to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the site engineering and maintenance teams on system upgrades and machinery modifications.
- Advise on preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot machinery emergencies and assess downtime caused by technical issues.
- Participate in project teams focused on the design, installation, commissioning, and validation of new machines.
- Coordinate with contractors for project arrangements and internal team support, including work permit management.
- Implement and promote 5S standards within the team.
- Assist in data collection and report preparation for management.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management within or outside your current scope of employment.
Requirements & Person Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical) is required.
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience; fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
- Preferably experienced in pneumatic systems, motors and pumps, bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulic systems, and machinery setup.
- Ability to design and conduct research using principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
- Proficient in reading P&ID diagrams and mechanical designs.
- Strong communication skills to maintain effective relationships with vendors and contractors.
- Highly motivated, self-driven, and positive attitude.
- Good team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, DXF, AutoCAD) for drafting designs and technical drawings is a plus.
