Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Contract Specialist to support our client’s Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects across Southeast Asia (SEA). The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of contracts, ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and providing strategic advice to project teams. The role will be based in Malaysia with occasional travel to other SEA countries to oversee project contracts and support cross-border operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Drafting & Negotiation: Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure terms are fair and aligned with project goals.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify and assess contractual risks, propose mitigations, and ensure contract terms minimize potential project risks.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure that all contracts adhere to legal, regulatory, and company compliance standards, especially across different SEA jurisdictions.
- Contract Administration: Manage the full lifecycle of contracts, from initial negotiations through execution, amendments, and closeout, including tracking key deliverables and deadlines.
- Claims & Dispute Resolution: Lead efforts to resolve claims, disputes, or contract issues in collaboration with project managers and external counsel.
- Reporting: Regularly update senior management on the status of contracts, including risks, issues, and key milestones.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in contract management within EPC, construction, energy, or a related industry, preferably in SEA markets.
- Language: Fluency in English.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of stakeholders.
- Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate terms effectively and manage contract disputes.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with local regulations across SEA countries.
- Strong understanding of contract law, particularly in the construction and energy sectors.
