Assistant Manager - Engineering

Operational

• Supervises the repair, maintenance and engineering operations according to the departmental standards.
• Properly handles and maintains all power tools and measuring instruments.
• Modifies installations to minimise waste of material and provide access for future maintenance.
• Avoids unsightly hazards and complies with all local regulations and codes.
• Ensures cleanliness of all work areas and protects the surroundings when executing duties.
• Executes Preventive Maintenance Programme according to schedules.
• Regularly inspects the entire building with particular attention on defective or deficient life safety features and to observe closely the condition of all operating equipment. Specific attention must be placed on areas of difficult access.
• Controls and verifies all engineering log book entries.
• Performs, at least weekly, a routine inspection of all engineering operational areas (plant rooms) and report any equipment malfunction to the Engineering Manager.
• Prepares weekly work schedules in accordance with workload and priorities for approval by the Engineering Manager.
• Supervises technicians and tradespersons under his/her responsibility for performance, quality of work and attendance.
• Ensures effective energy conservation measures in areas of operations.
• Ensures fire, life and safety systems are operational.
• Ensures effective service recovery pertaining to guests’ feedback.
• Assists in the building of an efficient team of associates by taking an active interest in their welfare, safety and development as well as learning of associates to ensure that they have the necessary skills to perform their duties with maximum efficiency.
• Coordinates the engineering and maintenance work with other hotel departments.
• Coordinates and supervise contractors to ensure compliance with specifications and the Hotel's procedures regarding guest contact and safety.
• Ensures that the proper operation, maintenance and repair of all Mechanical and electrical equipment be at the most economical possible but of their best efficiency.
• Responsible for all Engineering matters in the absence of the Engineering Manager.
• Correct operation of physical plant and all Engineering facilities of entire hotel during shift in accordance with the design Engineer's specification and manufacturers' recommendations.
• Must be completely familiar with all areas and equipment in the hotel and not just areas they are responsible for from the maintenance aspect. Ability to anticipate troubles and takes corrective action on time.
• Directs and supervises his crew according to established policies and procedures.
• Responsible leader for hotel fire team in case of emergency.
• Distribution of work order to the assigned personnel.
• Spot checking to ensure that the work as detailed in the work orders have been executed in the most practical, skillful and economical manner.
• Keeping accurate operating logs according to established policies and procedures.
• Learning of subordinates in their respective assigned personnel.
• Responsible for Engineering store after normal office hours.
• To be familiar with the job description of all personnel under his jurisdiction.
• Ensures that subordinates clearly understand their duties and roles.
• Ensuring that all safety rules and regulations are adhered to by assigned personnel.

Requirements

• Able to work on weekend and public holiday.
• Good command in English and Bahasa Malaysia
