Job description: JOB PURPOSE

A contract manager is someone, who manages the entire contract lifecycle for a company. The contract management services include negotiation, implementation and administration of contracts. With accuracy as the primary benchmark, a contract manager ensures that the contracts are drawn and executed in compliance with the company’s policies and regulations. Besides curating and executing the contracts, the contract manager’s role entails managing the enforcement of the contract by ensuring that all parties involved adhere to the terms stipulated in the contract. High accuracy and negotiation skills are indispensable qualities that are vital to the contract manager job role.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Develop the contract management strategy and ensure it is understood and implemented across the organisation, including the development of contract management plans. Set the standards for contract management Support contract managers across the organisation to manage their contracts well, with appropriate consistency within and between contracts, through guidance, training and best practice sharing Establish and chair a contract management forum at which best practice is shared and future procurement discussed Support contract managers with timely appropriate and practical advice when issues arise in their management of contracts Ensure new statutory provisions are appropriately and consistently reflected in contracts Ensure an up to date accurate contracts register is maintained, shared as appropriate, and used to prompt consideration of future options and models as contracts near expiry, including consideration of in-sourcing Provide commercial advice on activities Develop and lead the organisational Procurement Strategy, providing oversight of large procurement projects Lead the existing Procurement team QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS
