Job Purpose
You are responsible and accountable to lead and build the Data Science, Data Engineering and Data Management & Governance team. You will lead the data and analytics strategy for the organization through partnership with the senior management team, business leaders and the technology department.
The Role:
- Lead the team in designing business requirements to develop a centralized repository to store, organize, and preserve consolidated views on policy, customer, claims, funds, transactions etc. from various Great Eastern systems as well as to propose visual analytics/ dashboard for new users.
- Perform oversight in gathering of business rules from business SMEs to standardize the attributes in the centralized repository to enable accurate retrieval and use of information for campaigns and analytics.
- Propose advanced analytics use cases for respective business units/stakeholders to meet their business objectives.
- Analyse business requirements to optimize the delivery of interactive and dynamic data visualization solutions to more business stakeholders in the company.
- Lead the team in engaging reinsurers or external consultants / vendors for proof of concept (POC) initiatives with regards to data and business analytics.
- Continuously explore other data visualization techniques relevant to the organization.
- Drive an enterprise-wide Data Governance strategy, operationalize the data management policies, procedures and standards.
- Facilitate sharing and adoption of data governance best practices and raise data literacy across the organisation.
- Guide users through data governance concepts, explaining the benefits of data governance policies and procedures within the context of the user's needs.
- As part of the leadership team, work with key stakeholders to proactively shape the organisation’s culture and conduct environment that is aligned to the organization’s Core Values
- Champion culture and conduct behavioral expectations within the Department/ Division
- Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company
- Highlight any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practice.

The Person:
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognised tertiary institution with at least 12 years of work experience where at least 5 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, data governance, data management, data architecture, analytics etc
- Demonstrate aptitude in data engineering, data science, data management and governance activities and best practices.
- Familiarity with big data platforms, data lakes, business information and analytics systems and landscape
- Strong influencing skills at a senior level and across the organisation, with the ability to credibly engage in order to frame, sell, influence and negotiate.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills to communicate and manage different levels of stakeholders across the organisation and navigate through conflicts and differences competently and with ease;
- Ability to identify, challenge and consider opportunities outside of conventional thinking to resolve problems and address gaps to improve the current state & embrace new changes;
- Demonstrates alignment with the organisation’s core values through expected behaviours
- High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork
- Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes
