Job Summary:
The Head of Product Planning & Development at BYD Malaysia plays a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction and execution of product innovation and development within the company. Reporting directly to the senior management team, this individual will be responsible for overseeing the entire product lifecycle, from conceptualization and research to design, prototyping, testing, and eventual launch. With a deep understanding of the automotive industry, particularly in the realm of electric vehicles (EVs), the Head, Product Planning & Development will lead a dynamic team to create cutting-edge products that meet the evolving needs and expectations of Malaysian consumers.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive research and formulate detailed analyses to support product planning and strategic initiatives, covering areas such as market research, customer satisfaction, segment opportunities, pricing strategies, feature/content development, competitive landscape assessment, emerging technologies, economic factors, production capabilities, and other essential aspects for both short-term and long-term planning purposes.
2. Develop and refine product concepts and associated documentation, guiding the product lifecycle from initial introduction to official model launch. This involves crafting strategies encompassing overall product direction, feature/content development, segment analysis, competitive product evaluation, and pricing assessment.
3.Offer product management assistance for designated product categories, including the identification and implementation of new features, steering product direction in alignment with market demands, and enhancing customer satisfaction levels.
4.Deliver product recommendations grounded in thorough needs analysis, examination of customer/market trends, and insights gleaned from market research forecasts.
5. Generate comprehensive documentation and reports outlining the specifications of assigned models, while also coordinating with relevant governmental bodies such as JPJ, DOE, SIRIM, and PUSPAKOM on all matters related to the designated vehicles.
6. Conduct thorough reviews of both internal and external communication materials to ensure accuracy regarding product details and adherence to regulatory compliance standards.
7. Collect the local regulations and policy documents, conduct market analysis, competitor analysis to develop prodcut planning and strategy, collaborate with marketing team to develop launching strategy.
8. Conduct all the VTA and homologation process, and the custom clearance and logistics.
9. Collaborate with the training team to develop the product trainning materials.
Experience & Skill:
1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or related field.
2. Minimum 10 years in product planning, development, or management roles within the automotive industry.
3. Proven track record of successfully launching and managing automotive products or vehicle programs from concept to market.
4. Strategic thinker with a forward-looking mindset, capable of anticipating market trends and driving proactive product strategies.
5. Strong business acumen and financial literacy, with experience in budget management, pricing strategies, and revenue forecasting.
6. Knowledge of automotive industry regulations, standards, and best practices.
7. Proficiency in project management tools, product development methodologies, and software applications relevant to the automotive industry.
8.Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
9.Required language(s): English & Bahasa. Chinese is an advantage
