The Emissions Accounting Specialist is responsible for technical accounting compliance while executing emissions and operational internal controls, process simplification, climate risk analysis, and operational excellence to deliver accurate reporting and analysis. The Analyst performs controls and variance analysis aligned to BH methodology. This includes working with the broad network of data owners to deliver accurate and complete data and works with data owners to understand the trends seen from analysis.

There is an interdependency between the Emissions Technical Controller and Emissions Accounting Specialist where the Emissions Technical (Operational) Controller advises what the Specialist works to implement with data owners, namely any new or changed guidance. The Specialist ensures underlying data tables and information are aligned to Baker Hughes methodology. This includes working with the broad network of data owners to deliver accurate and complete data. There is a feedback loop to the Controller to improve methodology and controls and automate reporting for future iterations.

Additionally, you will be responsible for:


  • Conducting verification and analysis according to the RCM (risks and controls matrix). Support external audit and verification process to achieve close cycle (period, quarterly, annual).
  • Executing of accurate and timely preparation of emissions inventory (scopes 1, 2, 3) to support all sustainability reporting in alignment with greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting standards.
  • Providing feedback to Controller in case of ineffective controls or inefficiencies and implementing improvements to procedures.
  • Testing and providing feedback on new and/or enhanced automated accounting features and dashboards.
  • Collaborating with Sourcing partners and suppliers on special projects to support value chain emissions methodology from purchased goods and services.

To be successful in this role you will:


  • Have a degree in a STEM subject, including Financial Accounting, Sustainability, Climate change accounting, Environmental Science, or other related field; and/or a minimum of 1 years’ experience in greenhouse gas reporting.
  • Have a detailed understanding of supply chain & general business operations.
  • Have very high proficiency in excel.
  • Have strong analytical skills.
  • Have strong technical writing skills.
  • Be an excellent communicator in English, have strong interpersonal and team working skills.
  • Be a team player with unquestionable integrity.
  • Be self-motivated, curious and inquisitive.
  • Be a creative thinker with a passion for making processes simpler and better.
  • Have a track record of meeting tight deadlines under pressure, supporting operational project management and process change.


In addition, the following skills and experiences are preferred, but not mandatory:


  • Have experience working with Baker Hughes suppliers is a plus.
  • Have knowledge of GHG Protocol standard of GHG emissions accounting in corporations.
  • Have experience in working directly with external auditors.
