JOB SUMMARY:
Ensure and enforce rigorous infection control standards and identify, prevent and control outbreaks in Beacon Hospital according to national and international requirements and recommendations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Quality Improvement & Risk Management
· Develop and execute Infection Control Standard Operating Procedures and Policies to non-clinical and clinical setting in the hospital according to MOH latest guideline.
· Participate and co-ordinate a four monthly Hospital Infection and Antibiotic Control Committee meeting to: -
(i) review infection control policy and quality indicators;
(ii) discuss issues related to infection control.
· Develop a system for reporting, data collection and evaluation on incidences and trend of infection among patients and healthcare professional including surveillance findings for reporting to the committee and nursing division.
· Monitor and investigate all incidences pertaining employee injuries and exposure to blood / body fluids. Provide counselling and recommendation if needed.
· Perform routine surveillance audit to all clinical and non-clinical area, provide
recommendation and ensuring all clinical staff compliance to infection control protocols.
· Work closely with Human Resource Department in monitoring the health status of all employees and ensure Hep B and Typhoid Vaccine is available for eligible employees.
· Work closely with Maintenance Department and participate in periodically hospital environmental sampling including water sampling according to the standards of Infection Control.
· Work closely with Housekeeping Department in order to develop Housekeeping Standard Operating Procedure and Work Instruction according to the Hospital Infection Control requirement and standards.
· Advise, replace or implement effective use of appropriate consumables in order to enhance infection control practices and for long term cost saving, strategies for the hospital.
· Implement ad-hoc infection control practices reacting to sudden outbreak of communicable or hospital acquired infections and liaison with MOH on guidelines and instruction to ensure in line with national requirement.
· Assist in any medical legal issue relating to hospital acquire infection and provide recommendation according to Infection Control Standards.
Customer Service
· Collaborate effectively with other team members, doctors and other departments, Allied health, Clinical support through professionalism, effective communication and good customer services.
Training and Development Others
· Involve in Infection Control program, plan and conduct training on topics related to Infection Control.
· Involved in training all housekeeping staff regarding Infection Control.
· Participate in developing competency yearly to achieve optimum knowledge and skill for all clinical staff.
· Assist Ward Manager as to ensure all ward staff completes the infection control competency.
· Ensure that Infection Control Orientation are provided to employees on timely basis.
· Creation of the Infection Control Link Nurse personnel as to assist in continuity and constant improvement of Infection Control.
Professional Development
· Participate actively in learning and development interventions identified by company to acquire required knowledge and skills for current and/or future job.
· Ensure attendance of continuing nursing education programs (CNE) and achieved sufficient CPD Point from 25-30.
Requirements:
- Diploma in Nursing / Bachelor in Nursing with LJM Certificate
- Valid APC
- Experience in Infection Control / Clinical Instructor
Working hours:
Monday - Friday (08.30am-6pm)
Job Type: Permanent
Pay: RM4,200.00 per month
