Overview:
Operating and monitoring the Distributed Control System (DCS) to ensure the safe and efficient operation of plant processes. Responsible to oversee the control room operations, monitor process parameters, and respond to alarms and deviations in real-time. Responsible to instruct/command the field operator for field operation activities, ensuring field equipment operating parameters and DCS are consistent, synchronized. This role requires keen attention to detail, technical proficiency, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- DCS Operation: Operate the Distributed Control System (DCS) to monitor and control plant processes, including equipment operation, temperature, pressure, flow rates, and chemical dosing. Execute control strategies to maintain process parameters within specified limits.
- Process Monitoring: Continuously monitor process variables, alarms, and trends to ensure safe and efficient operation of plant equipment and systems. Identify deviations from normal operating conditions and take appropriate corrective actions.
- Alarm Response/Abnormal Situation Handling: Respond to alarms and abnormal conditions in the process promptly and effectively. Diagnose the root cause of alarms, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and implement corrective actions to restore normal operation.
- Process Optimization: Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to optimize process performance and maximize productivity. Implement control strategies and operating procedures to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize energy consumption.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory requirements at all times. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality control guidelines.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with shift supervisors, operators, and maintenance personnel to coordinate activities and exchange relevant information. Provide clear and concise verbal and written updates on process status, incidents, and shift activities. Attend shift team meeting, put forward comments/suggestions in shift log; ensure good housekeeping of control room.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of process parameters, equipment status, and operational activities using logbooks, shift reports, and electronic databases. Document any incidents, deviations, or equipment failures for follow-up and analysis.

Job Requirements:
- Min. SPM/SVM/SKM or equivalent and above; Diploma/Advanced Diploma is preferred.
- Previous experience as a process operator (min. 5 years), and DCS operator (min. 2 years) in an industrial setting, such as chemical manufacturing, refining, petrochemicals, or power generation.
- Experience in Hydroprocessing (Hydrotreator, Hydrocracker), Oleorefinery would be an added advantage
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and other process control systems.
- Knowledge of process instrumentation, control valves, pumps, and other plant equipment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, environmental compliance standards, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software applications.
Job Type: Permanent
Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM7,000.00 per month
