A Pastry / Baker Chef assist a Head Chef to runs a central kitchen, and report to the Head Chef. The role is made up of many varying responsibilities including:
- Operating and managing the pastry section of central kitchen and liaising with the Head Chef to ensure a successful working environment.
- Preparing ingredients and handling products and other kitchen equipment.
- To be responsible and developing new products of our customers.
- Monitoring the stock of raw materials and packaging materials.
- Ordering new supplies, ingredients, and equipment for the pastry section, when needed, and within budget.
- Ensuring their section of the kitchen adheres to safety and health regulations.
- Supervising and training staff members.
- Monitoring production and waste control.
- Overseeing the maintenance of kitchen and food safety standards.
- Checking FSMS documentation.
To land a job as a A Pastry / Baker Chef will need:
- Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking, or relevant field.
- Food Handling Certificate
- Valid Typhoid vaccination
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience
- Working knowledge of baking techniques and the pastry-making process
- Awareness of manual handling techniques
- Experience of kitchen equipment
