Purpose of the Role

You will be a key member of the SILC plant engineering maintenance team, reporting directly to the Site Engineering Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee all plant setup or improvement projects related to electrical, mechanical, facility, and civil structures, including machinery and facility activities. You will collaborate closely with various teams across plant operations and corporate functions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage engineering projects assigned by your superior, including engineering studies, timeline setting, budget estimation, and overall program coordination.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to conduct studies on breakdown maintenance, fault investigation, isolation, and rectification of electrical equipment.
  • Review and upgrade existing electrical systems to enhance reliability and efficiency within the plant.
  • Evaluate specifications, engineering drawings, and design concepts for new systems and equipment, ensuring proper installation according to contract specifications.
  • Maintain regular updates on project status to meet target completion dates.
  • Prepare required documentation such as project proposals, utility consumption studies, machine downtime analyses, incident investigations, work permits, power consumption reports, and SOPs.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse designs, setups, upgrades, and modifications to electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with site engineering and maintenance teams to improve productivity through system studies and upgrades of machinery and utilities.
  • Advise on preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain existing systems and recommend improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Troubleshoot emergency machinery issues and assess downtime due to technical problems.
  • Work as part of a team on projects involving the design, installation, commissioning, and validation of new machinery.
  • Coordinate with contractors for project arrangements, work permits, and internal support management.
  • Promote 5S standards within the team.
  • Assist your superior with data collection and report preparation.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by management, within or outside your current scope of employment.

Requirements & Person Specifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience; fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Strong electrical design and troubleshooting skills preferred.
  • Experience in automation and instrumentation is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring, single-line diagrams, and PLC ladder diagrams.
  • Excellent communication skills to maintain good relationships with vendors and contractors.
  • Highly motivated, self-driven, and possesses a positive attitude.
  • Strong team player with the ability to multitask.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, DXF, AutoCAD) for drafting designs and technical drawings is an advantage.

Pay: RM2,700.00 - RM2,900.00 per month
