Key Responsibilities: Electrical Safety Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of electrical systems, installations, and equipment on construction sites or within data centers to identify electrical hazards and risks. Evaluate the effectiveness of existing electrical safety measures and recommend improvements. Ensure electrical installations comply with local and international electrical safety codes, such as NFPA 70E, IEC, OSHA, or other relevant standards. Develop and Implement Safety Protocols: Create and enforce electrical safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, arc flash safety procedures, and grounding standards. Develop and implement emergency response plans related to electrical hazards (e.g., electrical shock, fires, explosions). Ensure electrical safety guidelines are integrated into the overall site safety management plan. Ensure electrical systems meet regulatory requirements for construction safety and data center standards (e.g., National Electrical Code, NEC). Safety Training and Awareness: Conduct electrical safety training for workers, including electrical contractors, site personnel, and data center staff. Provide education on the proper use of electrical protective equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPE) like arc-rated clothing, gloves, and face shields. Promote awareness of electrical hazards and best safety practices among workers and supervisors. Inspections and Audits: Perform regular electrical safety inspections and audits on the construction site or data center to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. Inspect electrical systems, wiring, power distribution units (PDUs), circuit breakers, grounding systems, and other related equipment to ensure they are installed and functioning safely. Identify non-compliance or unsafe practices and recommend corrective actions to management. Document and report findings from inspections and audits, tracking corrective actions to closure. Incident Investigation: Investigate electrical safety incidents, including electrical shocks, fires, arc flashes, and near misses. Identify root causes of electrical incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to mitigate future risks. Compile detailed incident reports and safety analysis for review by senior management and regulatory authorities. Collaboration with Contractors and Subcontractors: Work closely with electrical contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with electrical safety standards during the installation, maintenance, and testing of electrical systems. Ensure that electrical workers are equipped with the proper safety gear and are trained on safe work practices. Monitor contractor performance to ensure electrical safety regulations are being adhered to during construction or operational phases. Compliance and Regulatory Oversight: Stay up-to-date with relevant electrical safety regulations, codes, and industry standards, such as OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace), and IEC standards. Ensure electrical systems and practices comply with local, state, and national safety regulations. Assist with inspections from regulatory agencies and support in audits and certifications related to electrical safety compliance. Emergency Response and Preparedness: Lead electrical emergency response drills for both construction and data center environments. Ensure that workers are prepared to respond appropriately to electrical emergencies, such as arc flash events, electrical fires, or electrical shock incidents. Provide support in the development of electrical safety-related contingency plans for critical operations, particularly in data centers. Continuous Improvement: Recommend improvements to electrical safety programs and systems based on lessons learned from incidents, audits, and feedback. Collaborate with other safety professionals to integrate electrical safety into the broader site safety culture and practices. Keep abreast of technological developments and emerging best practices in electrical safety, applying them where applicable.
