Knewton Global Schools Miri is located in the Malaysian state of Sarawak on the north coast of the island of Borneo. Our campus has both a British International and a National Private School, caring for approximately 530 students aged 3-17 years old from a wide range of nationalities and backgrounds. The International Secondary School offers a modified British curriculum including IGCSEs to children between the ages of eleven and sixteen. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, qualified teacher to teach English as an Additional Language throughout the International Secondary School. An ability to also teach Lower Secondary First Language English is highly desirable. The successful candidate will: -Inspire students and ensure a high-quality learning experience in English; -Develop, implement and deliver a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum in English as a Second Language across the Secondary School up to IGCSE; -Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the curriculum and developing wider school initiatives; -Assess, record and report on the progress, development and attainment of students to support their learning; -Keep up to date with developments in teaching practice and methodology and in the relevant curriculum areas; -Take a full and active role in supporting extracurricular activities and delivering the School’s Guiding statement and development plans; -Contribute to staff development of appropriate strategies, approaches and resources for EAL development; -Have excellent oral and written English skills; -Have a high level of professionalism and care for children; -Have relative teaching experience and up to date knowledge of current research in teaching EAL.
