- Provides technical and administrative supervision to all pharmacy staff members within the Pharmacy Department, both outpatient and inpatient.
- Assigns work to subordinates; evaluates work performance; advise or counsel employees on work and administrative matters; interview candidates for positions; evaluates work performances, approves leave.
- Provides direct pharmaceutical services by selecting, procuring, preparing and dispensing medications. Reads and interprets prescriptions; measures and mixes compound drugs and chemicals. Resolves Issues related to clinical, chemical and therapeutic applications of drugs. Reviews and records all patient information regarding therapeutic appropriateness of drug therapy. Provides consultative services and instruction to patients on safe usage of prescribed medications.
- Maintains the records control system, handles the purchasing and requisitioning of supplies and equipment, prepares and maintains the department budget, assures the department and staff are in compliance with all Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO} standards, guidelines and all other regulatory requirements.
