Geotechnical Engineer

Key Tasks: o Conduct site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and testing of soil and rock. o Interpret geotechnical data to assess ground conditions and potential project risks. o Prepare geotechnical reports detailing findings and recommendations. o Design foundations for structures such as terminals, jetties, and retaining walls. o Evaluate the bearing capacity and settlement of proposed foundations. o Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and project requirements. o Assess and design slopes, embankments, and dredged material storage areas for stability. o Analyze potential landslide risks and recommend mitigation measures. o Provide input on excavation, backfilling, and compaction activities. o Analyze soil and sediment characteristics to inform dredging methodologies. o Assess sediment deposition patterns and recommend strategies for sediment management. o Support the design of pipelines and underwater structures associated with dredging operations. o Evaluate geotechnical risks such as liquefaction, erosion, and subsidence. o Propose engineering solutions to mitigate risks and enhance project safety. o Work closely with structural, hydraulic, and environmental engineers to integrate geotechnical solutions into overall project designs. o Provide technical guidance to construction teams during execution phases. o Oversee geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring programs for structures and earthworks. o Ensure construction activities align with geotechnical specifications and project goals. Key Skills: • Proficiency in geotechnical analysis and software tools such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, Slope/W, and similar. • Deep understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering. • Ability to analyze complex geotechnical challenges and deliver practical, cost-effective solutions. • Strong technical report writing and presentation skills. • Ability to communicate geotechnical concepts effectively to multidisciplinary teams. • Familiarity with geotechnical standards, codes, and best practices in dredging and terminal construction. • Knowledge of environmental regulations affecting geotechnical engineering works.
