Job Summary:
The Flower & Gifts Retail Assistant plays a key role in ensuring exceptional customer service and maintaining the smooth operation of our flower and gift shop. As a Flower & Gifts Retail Assistant, you will assist customers in selecting and purchasing products, handle cash transactions, maintain inventory levels, and provide general support to the shop's daily operations. You will work closely with customers to understand their needs, offer product recommendations, and create a positive shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
- Greet customers warmly and provide friendly assistance throughout their shopping experience.
- Assist customers in selecting appropriate flowers, gifts, and other merchandise based on their preferences and budget.
- Offer product knowledge and provide detailed information about different flower varieties, arrangements, and gift items.
- Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner, striving to exceed customer expectations.
Sales and Cash Handling:
- Process customer transactions accurately, ensuring proper cash handling procedures and utilizing the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Upsell additional products or services when appropriate, maximizing sales opportunities.
- Maintain a clean and organized cash register area, including handling cash, credit card transactions, and gift certificates.
Merchandising and Inventory Management:
- Assist in receiving, inspecting, and organizing incoming merchandise.
- Ensure proper pricing, labeling, and display of products on the shop floor.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet customer demand.
- Regularly check the freshness and quality of flowers and plants, removing any wilted or damaged items.
Shop Maintenance and Presentation:
- Keep the shop floor and displays clean, tidy, and well-stocked at all times.
- Arrange and decorate floral displays, ensuring they are visually appealing and well-maintained.
- Water plants and flowers regularly, ensuring they remain fresh and vibrant.
- Assist in maintaining shop supplies, such as gift wrapping materials, ribbons, and cards.
Teamwork and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with fellow team members to ensure a smooth flow of operations and excellent customer service.
- Assist colleagues during busy periods, ensuring customer needs are met efficiently.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and other shop-related activities as required.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in retail sales or customer service is preferred.
- Knowledge of different flower varieties and basic floral arrangement techniques is desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using a computerized point-of-sale (POS) system is advantageous.
- Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays as per the shop's schedule.Details:
