Senior Specialist, Credit and Collections

Let’s talk about the team:
The primary role of Financial Shared Services function (for Credit and Collections) is to provide a daily operational and documentation support related to Account Receivables, invoice processing, credit reviews for order management, receipt allocation etc. Key deliverables include, but not limited to monitoring debtors balances, minimizing overdue debtors balance, reducing bad debt losses whilst maintaining good customer relationships and customer details, reviewing, and posting receipts, detailed customer reconciliations, journal entries and possibly supporting SOX compliance tasks.
Let’s talk about the role:
- Key responsibilities include monitoring debtor balances to ensure that payments are made within the required timeframes and outstanding accounts are followed up.
- Managing team of collections agents including allocating and managing customer portfolios, monitoring call rates and performance of team members.
- Develop and implement timely SLAs on collections strategies and standardisation of communications both written and verbal.
- Escalate outstanding debtors to external debt collection agencies and provides relevant customer details. Including ongoing relationship management with external collections agencies.
- Seeks approval and perform the write-off process of unrecoverable accounts.
- Report and analyse customer payments to drive efficient, effective and successful collection outcomes.
- Ensuring detailed and accurate history notes are maintained on customer accounts, including reconciling difficult accounts, late or bad debtors, and any follow up action dates.
- Communicates with customers or third-party payers to request and facilitate payment of overdue invoices.
- Responding to escalated collections cases that require detailed reconciliation and rectification of any discrepancies with relevant departments.
- Review and approve requests release any orders on hold for payment issues that have been resolved.
- Adhoc input into any process and improvement system projects related to order to cash process as a process specialist.
Let’s talk about you:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Business Studies or Commerce.
- Team leadership and mentoring experience is required
- Working in a fast changing and developing environment, where adaptability and capacity for change is critical to progress and long term success.
- Working knowledge of credit processing, electronic payment and funds transfer processes and regulations, and experience in working with debt collection agencies.
- Ability to communicate effectively with external and internal customers – written and verbal.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Continue to develop the systems to optimize throughput.
- 5 years’ experience working in a commercial credit and receivables role
- ERP systems and detailed understanding of Order to Cash processes
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
