Position Overview: The Business Office Officer in the hospital sector is responsible for managing administrative and financial functions within the hospital's business office. Key Responsibilities:

  • Billing and Accounts Management:
  • Process and review patient bills and invoices accurately.
  • Ensure timely submission of insurance claims and follow up on unpaid claims.
  • Coordinate with insurance companies for verification and approvals.
  • Manage patient accounts and resolve any discrepancies in billing.
  • Insurance Verification:
  • Verify insurance coverage and eligibility before patient services.
  • Liaise with insurance providers for pre-authorizations, approvals, and claim statuses.
  • Assist in resolving insurance-related inquiries from patients and providers.
  • Customer Service:
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families regarding billing and insurance inquiries.
  • Address patient concerns about billing, payment options, and insurance coverage.
  • Communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure resolution of issues.
  • Reporting:
  • Prepare reports on accounts receivable, payment collections, and outstanding balances.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly reports for management review.
  • Monitor and report any financial discrepancies to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Office Administration:
  • Maintain organized files and records of all patient billing, claims, and insurance documents.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with legal and hospital policies.
  • Provide general administrative support to other departments as needed.
  • Compliance and Regulations:
  • Stay updated on healthcare regulations, insurance policies, and hospital billing codes.
  • Ensure all billing practices comply with regulatory standards and hospital policies.
  • Assist in audits and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with medical staff, management, and other departments to streamline operations and improve patient experience.
  • Provide training or guidance to new staff as required.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of healthcare billing procedures, insurance protocols, and medical terminology.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position based in the hospital’s business office.
  • Standard working hours with occasional overtime as required.
