Job Responsibilities

  • Supplier Management:
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and service criteria.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Negotiation:
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve favourable pricing and delivery terms.
  • Manage contracts and ensure compliance with agreements.
  • Purchasing Strategy:
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with company objectives and supply chain management.
  • Analyse market trends and pricing to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Cost Management:
  • Monitor and analyse costs associated with materials and supplies.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to understand material requirements and specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development and project execution.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage reorder points to ensure optimal stock levels.
  • Coordinate with logistics to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure that purchased materials meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Work with quality control teams to address any supplier-related quality issues.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
  • Prepare reports on purchasing activities, supplier performance, and market conditions.
  • Analyze purchasing data to identify trends and make data-driven decisions.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with the supply chain.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Mentor and train junior purchasing staff.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; a master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Purchasing Professional) is a plus.
  • Experience: Typically 5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles, preferably in a relevant industry.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of engineering concepts, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions based on trends and forecasts.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation and communication skills to work effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills to work effectively across departments and with suppliers.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting, and in PowerPoint for creating impactful presentations.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
