Job Summary:
The Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for residents in accordance with dietary guidelines, individual preferences, and safety standards. This role plays a key part in promoting the health and well-being of the residents by providing meals that support their specific dietary needs in a compassionate and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Meal Preparation and Cooking:
- Plan and prepare daily meals, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, following set menus and dietary guidelines.
- Modify recipes to meet individual dietary restrictions, such as low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, or texture-modified meals.
- Ensure that meals are well-balanced, nutritious, and appealing.
2. Kitchen Management:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, storage areas, and dining spaces.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of food to meet safety and hygiene standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the management team to order ingredients and supplies as needed.
3. Health and Safety Compliance:
- Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols, including cleaning and disinfecting kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Adhere to elder care-specific dietary regulations and local health department requirements.
4. Resident Interaction:
- Communicate with residents and care staff to accommodate preferences and address dietary needs or concerns.
- Display empathy and patience while serving meals and interacting with residents.
5. Additional Tasks:
- Assist with special events, celebrations, or themed meals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or management team.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare, elder care, or similar environment.
- Strong understanding of dietary requirements for elderly individuals.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and kitchen equipment.
- Good time management and organizational abilities.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with care staff and management.
Working Location: Kulai, Johor Bahru.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM2,800.00 per month
