The Laboratory Technician is responsible for: • Ensuring that analytical procedures and associated tasks assigned are conducted in accordance with the ALS Quality Work Instructions including QA/QC. • Preparing media required for daily operation and ensuring all logbooks for media preparation are updated. • Performing tests on all samples for microbiological testing which include: - sample preparation - analysis - transferring and subculturing • Ensuring all types of media required for testing are always available for use and stocks are monitored closely to avoid delay in testing. • Organising designated tasks to maximise daily efficiencies. • Ensuring housekeeping of laboratory including:- - Cleaning of benches - Cleaning of work area - Cleaning of equipment - Emptying used glassware for soaking at the end of the day - Performing decontamination on used petri dish and glassware - Emptying decontaminated materials from the laboratory into proper domestic wastage disposal area - Sample disposal after retention period • Other duties, as requested, relating to this position
