- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for patients with mental health conditions.
- Administer medications and monitor their effects, ensuring adherence to prescribed treatment plans.
- Provide support during psychiatric crises, de-escalating situations using therapeutic communication and intervention techniques.
Therapeutic Interventions:
- Facilitate individual or group therapy sessions under the guidance of psychiatrists or psychologists.
- Support patients in developing coping mechanisms and life skills for managing mental health conditions.
- Provide education to patients and families about mental health disorders, treatments, and recovery processes.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Observe and document patient behavior, symptoms, and progress to inform treatment planning.
- Report any significant changes in a patient’s condition to the healthcare team.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, especially in high-risk situations such as self-harm or aggression.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans.
- Participate in team meetings to review patient cases and adjust treatment strategies as needed.
Safety and Crisis Management:
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Intervene during emergencies, such as suicide attempts or aggressive outbursts, following facility protocols.
- Educate patients on managing triggers and avoiding risky behaviors.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
- Participate in staff training, development, and continuing education to stay updated on best practices in psychiatric care.
- Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards in mental health nursing.
