Theatre Audio Visual Technician / Engineer We are looking for few Technical Crews to work as part of the Technical Department to facilitate the technical requirements of The Encore Melaka’s Theatre. This role involves carrying out all duties associated with the getting in, fitting up, running and getting out of productions and performance taking place in the theatre. The ideal candidate for this role will be either experienced in audio visual project management/coordination or an experienced audio / video / audio-visual engineer who feels they are confident enough to; will have knowledge and experience in a similar position in a receiving or producing theatre environment. Reporting to the Director of Theatre, your key areas of responsibility will be depending on your role, your day-to-day tasks may include: JOB DESCRIPTION • Responsible for the installation and operation of all technical aspects of audio visual event at the theatre. • Oversees all aspects of sound content of a production, this involves the creation and recording of sound as well as the operation and maintenance of sound system in the theatre. • Coordinate with Artistic Director to understand the production’s goals and their overall vision • Interpreting a lighting designer's plan. • Carrying out risk assessments for health and safety purposes. • Planning where to run cables and place lights at theatre locations. • Helping to rig and check the equipment. • Perform routine maintenance of Video, AV and lighting equipment. • Able to control stage video, sound and light system independently for theatre performance. • To liaise between the Technical, Production, Operation and Warehouse Teams regarding equipment and crew requirements. • Attend dress and technical rehearsals to ensure sound & lighting choices are correct, making adjustments as needed. • Programming and operating manual and computer-controlled lighting systems. • Follow instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by your Superior. REQUIREMENTS • Technical background in electrics / electronics or broadcasting / recording. • Experience in Sound and Light Industry (Hotel, Theme Park , Event or Theatre) • Extensive experience of live events both in an operational and management capacity. • A very good technical understanding of audio and video equipment used on events, signal. paths and connectivity – experience and knowledge of audio and video system design. • Excellent communication and organisation skills. • Enthusiasm, energy and the ability to work flexibly and accurately with tight deadlines. • Strong skills in theatre lighting & ETC desk programing, sound installation & operation including the use of digital consoles, audio visual, theatrical staging or counter weight and point hoist flying are essential. • Excellent skills using MS Word, Excel and Outlook. • Excellent hearing. • High level of attention to details.
