Job Summary:

onsemi is currently seeking an experienced Process Engineer to work on fabrication process development for silicon carbide materials and other hard ceramics. This person will utilize her/his knowledge, skills, and most importantly energy and willingness to learn, to take on challenges to support onsemi 's technology and engineering and development on multiple fronts. This position reports to the Manager, Fabrication.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Owns the process for an advanced fabrication line for silicon carbide fabrication.
  • Optimizes process parameters and implement cost down and yield improvement efforts.
  • Implements data driven productivity and quality measurement systems and process across all factory steps.
  • Tests reproducibility of improvements and incorporate in upgrades to existing products.
  • Identifies and implements new and emerging technologies, processes, and innovations.
  • Creates and maintains detailed technical process documentation including work instructions.
  • Implements advances on metrology and inspection techniques.
  • Develops part specifications and drawings, working with engineering and design support groups.
  • Implements automation, advanced fixturing and factory solutions.
  • Supports the development of a QC program.
  • Works closely with Operations, Engineering, and vendors.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of capital projects, project management and planning skills.
  • Manages equipment, process, and vendor qualifications.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

Competencies

The ideal candidate should also have a demonstrated ability in:

  • Advanced understanding of CMP, lapping, grinding, machining, and general manufacturing.
  • Experience in grinding, machining, wire sawing, lapping and CMP of hard ceramic materials, ideally silicon carbide.
  • Factory flow and optimization.
  • Understanding of X-ray equipment and use in crystallography measurement.
  • Mechanical tooling design.
  • Knowledge of basic operation, design, and function of manufacturing equipment.
  • Understanding of LED manufacturing or processes.
  • Design of experiments and statistical data analysis.
  • Project management.
  • Self-motivated, independent and hands on.
  • Approachability & internal customer focus.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and simultaneously support and coordinate multiple projects.

Requirements:

  • Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering.
  • Fabrication experience in high tech manufacturing. (ex. LED, SEMI, Ceramics, Optics,).
  • 3+ years of industrial experience in an engineering or development environment.
  • Experience in process design, process optimization and or production support.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, planning, and problem-solving/troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent Excel skills required and intermediate capability in other MS Office tools.
  • Comfortable multi-tasking in a dynamic engineering and manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and drive to take proactive approach is required.
  • Solid experience to independently identify, analyze, and solve problems with creative and successful solutions.
  • Demonstrates success being keenly tuned in to customers, managers, peers, and others for strong teamwork and relationships.
  • MES system experience preferred; Wonderware a plus.
  • Travel, including international, up to 10%.
