Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Investment Manager to join our dynamic team at one of Malaysia's leading asset management firms. The Investment Manager will play a crucial role in evaluating potential investment opportunities, performing detailed market research, financial analysis, investment modeling, and valuation. This individual will work closely with senior team members and will be responsible for assessing deals and providing strategic insights. However, the role does not require sourcing for new deals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deal Evaluation and Due Diligence:

    • Vet potential investment opportunities, performing thorough due diligence on each investment, including financial and operational assessments.
    • Analyze and assess risks and opportunities related to specific investment deals, identifying key drivers for performance and return generation.
  • Investment Analysis:

    • Conduct deep dives into market conditions, industry trends, and competitor landscapes to evaluate the viability of investments.
    • Collaborate with external research teams and use market intelligence tools to gather relevant data.
  • Financial Modeling and Valuation:

    • Build and maintain financial models (DCF, LBO, comparable company analysis, precedent transactions) to project investment performance and evaluate returns.
    • Perform valuation analysis using appropriate methodologies, providing insights on the fair market value of investments.
  • Reporting and Recommendations:

    • Prepare detailed investment memos and presentations for senior management, clearly outlining investment thesis, financial assumptions, risks, and returns.
    • Provide actionable recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Market Research and Sector Analysis:

    • Monitor market trends, news, and economic indicators to provide context and insights for investment decisions.
    • Conduct research into specific sectors or geographies of interest to the firm and support ongoing portfolio strategy.
  • Collaboration with Internal Teams:

    • Work closely with legal, risk, and operations teams to ensure all aspects of the investment process are aligned and compliant with firm policies.
    • Provide support to the portfolio management team in the monitoring and review of existing investments.
  • Strategy and Investment Thesis Development:

    • Assist in developing long-term investment strategies, providing input on portfolio construction and sector allocation based on market research and analysis.
    • Analyze current investment portfolio performance and suggest tactical adjustments.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant professional qualification (CFA, FRM, CAIA, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience:

    • 4-6 years of experience in investment analysis, financial modeling, or valuation within asset management, private equity, investment banking, or corporate finance.
    • Strong understanding of financial markets, economic principles, and financial instruments.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques.
    • Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to build complex financial models.
    • Experience using Bloomberg, Reuters, or other financial data platforms.
    • Familiarity with PowerPoint and reporting tools for investment presentations.
  • Analytical Skills:

    • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with an ability to interpret financial statements and market data to draw meaningful insights.
  • Communication Skills:

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial concepts to senior stakeholders.
    • Ability to produce high-quality investment reports and presentations.
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
