About You: The Quality Engineer is a vital member of an agile development team, responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions through both manual and automated testing practices. This role requires a collaborative mindset, technical expertise in modern testing tools and techniques, and a strong focus on delivering exceptional user experiences. The Quality Engineer will work closely with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to define, implement, and continuously improve testing strategies. Key accountabilities and responsibilities: • Collaborate with team members to identify testing needs early in the development cycle. • Develop and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and scripts for manual and automated testing. • Perform functional, regression, integration, exploratory, cross-browser, and performance testing for web applications. • Actively participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives. • Build and maintain automated test suites using tools like Cypress, Playwright, or similar frameworks. • Implement BDD practices using tools like Cucumber to enhance collaboration and test clarity. • Log, track, and manage bugs using modern tools, ensuring clear and actionable defect descriptions. • Work closely with developers to resolve issues and validate fixes. • Use tools such as Xray or Zephyr for test case management and reporting. • Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and defects. • Engage with product owners and stakeholders to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria. • Provide regular updates on testing progress and quality metrics. • Proactively identify areas for improvement in testing processes and contribute to their optimization. Key performance indicators: • Achieve adequate coverage of all critical user stories and functionality using manual and automated tests. • Identify critical defects before production release. • Increase the automated test suite execution rate per sprint/release cycle. • Decrease the time required for regression testing by through automation and modern quality engineering techniques. • Ensure the logged defects are resolved and re-tested within agreed timelines. Skills, knowledge, experience & qualifications: • Strong understanding of the software testing lifecycle (STLC) and agile testing methodologies. • Expertise in exploratory testing techniques and web-based application testing, including cross-browser compatibility. • Experience on automated testing tools like Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, or equivalent. • Hands-on experience with BDD techniques, Gherkin, and frameworks such as Cucumber or SpecFlow. • Familiarity with modern test management tools like Xray or Zephyr. • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with team members and stakeholders. • Ability to articulate testing needs, report on defects, and provide actionable feedback. • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and resolution. • Proven ability to work collaboratively within agile teams and contribute to team success.
