Environment Officer (Sabah)

Job Responsibilities: • Conduct environmental assessments and audits to identify potential environmental risks and develop appropriate control measures. • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices. • Advise project teams on sustainable construction practices and recommend measures to minimize environmental impact. • Collaborate with internal departments to develop and implement environmental training programs for construction staff. • Coordinate with external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies and environmental consultants, to ensure compliance with permits and regulations. • Conduct regular inspections and evaluations to assess environmental performance and identify areas for improvement. • Prepare and submit environmental reports and documentation to relevant authorities as required. • Stay updated on emerging environmental regulations and industry best practices, and recommend necessary changes to company policies and procedures. • Promote environmental awareness and sustainability initiatives among construction staff and subcontractors. • Ensure the project compliance to ISO 14001 or Environmental Management System. • Identify applicable legal requirement, perform evaluation of compliance. Job Requirements: • Min of Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental management, or a related field. • Certified Erosion, Sediment and Storm Water Inspector (CESSWI) or Certified Inspection of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC) • Proven experience working as an environmental officer in the construction industry. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with project teams, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies. • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively. • Proficient in using environmental management software and tools.
