JOB PURPOSE This position is responsible for producing reliable and globally competitive cost-estimates as per trade discipline that meet clients’ specifications / standards in order to achieve MMHE’s vision to be a leading Marine and Heavy Engineering organization of choice. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/MAJOR TASKS COST ESTIMATION - Review enquiries and produce estimates for submission to achieve the target set. - Produce reliable and competitive estimates to secure projects. - Submit estimates with realistic cost, working period, resource availability and competency to meet the time frame given. - Comply with unit rates, prices, man-hours and time schedules and seek out sourcing prices of nonroutine work to achieve competitive estimates. - Knowledge to prepare MTO and understand all working procedures based on client specification. DATA BANK - Verify, collate, manage, control, record and maintain an up-to-date cost-estimation data bank that provides information relating to steel price / equipment / vendors / labour costs to facilitate the development & production of accurate and consistent quality estimates as well as for future references. VENDOR / CONTRACTOR DATA - Negotiate for better price and schedule with sub-contractor to achieve competitiveness. - Review sub-contractor proposal for manpower pooling and track record from past projects. QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM - Comply to all procedures and processes as relevant and contained within the Department manual, Quality management System and as implemented from time to time by management. VESSEL CHECK • Attend technical discussion with owner or ship check to produce quality estimates. IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVES - Attend training and continuous improvement programs to upgrade competency. Participate in Company HSE safety training and programs. - Participation in Quality Management System to promote Kaizen initiative. HSE - Participate in the implementation of HSE initiatives among Staff and workers of the Estimating Department, Marine Repair to develop HSE as the MMHE work-culture. WORK CULTURE - Maintain a healthy and conducive work culture in Estimating Department, Marine Business team that encourages cohesiveness and commitment among staff and promotes global championship mindset to improve productivity and maintain high standards of service. - To promote teamwork and no blaming culture.
