Painter works closely with painter team leader to perform painting works interior and exterior surfaces. Job duties shall include removing old paint, priming surfaces, choosing materials, selecting and mixing colors and cleaning up job sites. This role will also be required to train and coach new team mates or interns joining the department. You will have the ability to communicate, interact and support your team members and superior in the department by exhibiting your best practices that aligned with the Merlin core values. You will also be required to exemplify your best behaviour and work well with other team members in the department/organization and to carry out assignments that are delegated by your superior in a timely manner. Scope and Responsibilities: 1. Applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures: Reads work order or receives instructions from supervisor regarding painting works. 2. Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, brushes, or steel wool, and removes old paint from surfaces, using paint remover, scraper, wire brush, or blowtorch to prepare surfaces for painting. 3. Selects premixed paints, or mixes required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors. 4. To perform FRP repairing works for the rides FRP profile and FRP props. 5. To perform Water Park slides repairing and maintenance works. 6. To perform and completed all the INFO system work order assigned by superior. 7. To work with team in completing the duties assigned. 8. To perform all the daily, weekly and monthly checklists assigned by superior. 9. To assist any special tasks as and when required. 10. Comply with Company’s rules and regulations with respect to safety at work place. SAFETY, HEALTH & ENVIRONMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Employees are responsible for all aspects of Health, Safety & Security within their team, in line with the Group Policy (HS001). 2. Employees must ensure that risk assessments have been carried out, that safe working procedures are in place for all work activities and that the employees in their team are aware of the Group Health, Safety and Security Policy and their obligations under it. 3. Employees must ensure that safe working practices are monitored and risk assessments and procedures are reviewed regularly. 4. Where incidents do occur, they must ensure that they are investigated appropriately and that where necessary, corrective action is taken to ensure that such incidents are not repeated. 5. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as work gloves when handling objects with sharp edges and safety footwear when handling heavy objects. 6. Don’t lift weights that are obviously beyond your capabilities and always lift by bending your legs and not your back. Use cart wherever possible. 7. Don’t lift loads that are too bulky or too heavy. Always get assistance. 8. Keep floors, passageways and working areas clean and free from obstructions. Ensure that materials are stacked neatly in a safe manner. Remove oil, grease and other slip hazards from floors as soon as possible. 9. Report hazards or obstacles likely to cause accidents as soon as noticed and avoid, or fence off until repair is completed. 10. When stacking materials ensure that the stacks are stable, secure and not too high. Be particularly careful when stacking pipes to prevent rolling. 11. Use steps or ladders to reach materials that are stored overhead. Do not improvise. 12. It is good practice to maintain strict control and accurate records of goods received, goods distributed and remaining stocks. Ensure the necessary stock control and safe working processes are always adhered to whenever applicable. Background and Experience: • Require a minimum of one (1) year painting or building maintenance experience. • Excellent knowledge of painting material and how to select, mix and apply them. • Solid knowledge of commercial and/or construction painting techniques. • Aptitude in using appropriate tools (brushes, caulking guns etc.). • Good basic math skills. • Manual dexterity with excellent balance to work on scaffolding, ladders etc. • Conscientious with great attention to detail. Education: Candidate must possess at least SPM or Diploma for any vocational skill courses or Diploma in Building Services Engineering.
