Job Description: Service Advisor • Ascertains automotive problems and services by listening to customer’s description of symptoms, clarifying description of problems, conducting inspections, taking test drives, checking vehicle maintenance records, and examining service schedules • Initiates automotive services and repairs by ascertaining performance problems and services requested • Perform inspections to narrow down what the cause of the problem may be • Verify warranty, insurance or contract coverage for service, developing estimates, writing repair orders and maintaining customer reports and records • Calculate and provide customer with an estimate of these expenses for resolving the problem, develops estimates by costing materials, suppliers and labour • Calculates customer’s payment, including deductibles • Explain process to clients so they understand what to expect and when their automotive will be repaired • Prepares repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required • Obtain approval signatures and enters RO into service database system • Maintain customer report by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle, obtaining customer’s approval of estimates, obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers, answering questions and concerns, and arranging towing and temporary transportation • Maintain automotive records by recording problems and corrective actions planned • Work with supervisors, repairmen and the rest of team to provide a positive and expedient resolution for clients • Overseeing and managing the service center’s scheduling and workflow • Informing customer of changes in service or when their vehicle is ready to be picked up • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
