Job Summary
To partner with different Business Units across the IFFCO Group assigned region(s) to ensure demand consolidation, on-time freight procurement, space availability and get support in concluding long term agreements, ensuring reliable and time-bound service across freight corridors.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Interface between Business unit Supply chain/Customer service/Sales teams and Shipping lines/Freight Forwarders/and other government bodies (if required) to facilitate smooth transaction of all export/import/trans-shipment by ocean mode.
- Consolidate ocean freight demand plans (import& exports both) from business units for contacting.
- Negotiate favorable Spot or short-term contract buying rates to maximize profit margin.
- Negotiate ocean FCL/LCL/Air freight with space allocation / free time in both POL/POD and any other value added service if required.
- Negotiate on discounts detention and demurrage for long staying idle containers.
- Supporting BU in optimizing the space utilization with carriers on various freight related contracts, Spot, VIP or term contracts
- Submit monthly operations report concerning service trends, freight trends and freight variation, detention minimizing and cost containment etc.
- Networking with shipping lines and service providers.
- Renew all service contracts and credit terms prior to expiry.
- Claims for service failure with the carriers or service providers.
- Create dashboard for benchmarking & reporting purposes.
- Annual budget preparation.
KPIs
- Mark-to-market savings benchmarking.
- Identify & implement cost savings initiatives.
- Incidents on Service failure to be kept no more than 20% of the total shipments
- Negotiation with carriers and service provider to obtain a competitive freight strategy of at least 10% off the current spot market for lanes for regularly shipped lanes.
- Pro activeness to highlight and mitigate on freight related risks to BU and sales team.
- Building strategic partnership with carriers and service provider
- Ability to mitigate claims
Work experience requirement
7-10 years of experience in dealing with major carriers, forwarders and merchandize traders for ocean freight container procurement.
Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Supply chain, Logistics or Shipping
