The Assistant Staff Engineer/ Staff Engineer Plastic Process Industrialization is responsible to ensure successful execution and delivery of engineering projects involving the core plastic transforming processes (e.g. injection molding, extrusion, ultrasonic welding), for the areas within scope of accountability. This role is of high importance for carrying out machine and mold-sourcing projects especially if new technologies have to be embedded. The staff engineer has a substantial and broad experience in plastic processing, which enables him/her to make solid judgements on feasibilities and trial outcomes. The holder is crucial for collaborating with R&D regarding new products within the combined product and process development process described in the BBMAG IMS process 5-2-02 (Development PCP), which is harmonized among the Competence Centers of the Non-Active Medical CoE’s.
Responsibilities :
- Determining the core aspects and success criteria for low-cost automation solutions in the area of plastic processes.
- Responsible for the technical leadership of one or more engineers in the same thematic field according to the Corporate Rules of Governance.
- Responsibility for timely and task-oriented processing of projects that encompass process engineering tasks, taking into account investment and production costs
- Drive projects and processes in accordance with the respective valid operating instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Managing equipment projects with specific expertise in specialized areas (e.g. molding cells, welding machines) or discrete products.
- Responsible for applying global quality requirements related to B. Braun’s production sites worldwide.
- Determining the core aspects and success criteria for low-cost automation solutions in the area of packaging.
- Development of project concepts and feasibility studies.
- Support as a technical expert.
- Work closely with the R&D team in product development and design for manufacturability.
- Work with other functional teams such as Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain/Procurement etc. to improve quality and yield.
- Review of technologies, processes, production facilities, and products regarding opportunities for streamlining and optimization, with the goal of improving quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Support training of concepts and provide recommendations for skilling up junior project managers in the department.
Requirements :
- At least 5 experiences in medical device sterilization, process development and validation.
- At least 3 years of leadership experience and able to motivate, coach, and develop employees, and collaborate with functional leaders and teams.
- Experience implementing process improvements, automation technologies, knowledge in Industry 4.0 and digital manufacturing.
- Responsible to develop User's Requirement specification (URS) and Functional Specification (FS).
- Project management experience in working and supporting timely delivery of projects within agreed budgets.
- Ability to create/manage a vision and think strategically, plan and organize, innovate, analyze complex data and situations, and exercise sound judgment.
- Experience in managing multiple concurrent research efforts to collect, analyze and present findings to inform decision making.
- Experience working in a highly regulated environment is required.
- Experiences success in creating, developing, and launching innovation in the market.
- A proven passion for science and engineering as a business with interest and understanding of the business side of innovation.
- Strong discovery skills, particularly questioning, observing, and experimenting.
