Batik Artist/Production Support

Batik Boutique an award-winning social enterprise created to disrupt the cycle
of poverty in Malaysia. We train women from low-income backgrounds to
produce gifts and fashion accessories made from a traditional Malaysian
fabric batik.
Batik Artist Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Create a yearly plan and implement it for monthly workshops
Plan and ensure monthly sales goals are met
Train new batik artists and ensure quality service is provided
Propose new products to management for workshop based on
customer feedback and trends
Maintain supply cabinets to be tidy and organized
Ensure workshop supplies and materials are stocked at all times
Write all scheduled workshops on calendar
Ensure workshops are set up consistently in-studio
Host an interactive and interesting workshop
Give an introduction on BB as a social enterprise and its mission
Process any fabrics required
Liaison with the Production team for any sewing work required
Call and coordinate collection from participants in a timely manner
Oversee staff communication to participants (photo taken, Tripadvisor
request for review sent within 24 hours, all questions answered online
within 24 hours)
Submit any weekly and monthly reports to management
Production Support Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Perform quality check, process and pack fabrics from each supplier
Do stock take for supplies every month
Working closely with marketin team to update shopify
Work with managers to implement the company’s policies and goals
Attend all training sessions/programs requested from the management
Demonstrate knowledge in products and cleanliness
Work closely with the production team on production process, productivity
rates, product quality standards and implement quality control programs
Any other duties as assigned by your line manage
Monitor inventory and ensure that the stock levels remain adequate, also to
avoid shortages and excesses.
Job Requirements
Fluent in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and optionally Mandarin
Excellent computer skills such as Excel & PowerPoint
Positive attitude, passionate about collaborative teamwork, excels at
interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Adaptable to change, able to pivot and find alternate solutions, demonstrated
capability in meeting new challenges
Good problem-solving skills, able to navigate unexpected situations or
conditions
Demonstrated leadership skills in driving teamwork excellence, conflict
resolution
Business-minded where applicable with entrepreneurship skills to ensure
business success
Work 5 days per week (scheduled up to 45 hours weekly)
Flexible with doing tasks required for the company assigned by management
(e.g., assisting colleagues in any department)
