School Counsellor
St Joseph’s Institution International School (SJIIS) is a Lasallian International School (3 to 18 years). It prepares students for the IGCSE, A Level and IB Diploma Programme examinations with an emphasis upon research-based teaching pedagogy and a character-building programme of activities inspired by the school’s Lasallian heritage. This includes service learning initiatives, and a holistic approach to sport, music and the arts.
SJIIS is seeking a supportive, knowledgeable and empathetic School Counsellor whose passion and experience will transform the outcomes of our students. The successful candidate will have a fantastic opportunity to join the staff of this ambitious and developing international school.
Experience of supporting students across different age ranges and proficiency in Mandarin, as well as English, will be an advantage.
The School is committed to delivering outstanding pastoral support that will meet the needs of pupils at all levels. The School Counsellor will work closely with the Senior Leadership team and Heads of Year to support students and promote a culture that highlights the importance of wellbeing. The School Counsellor will provide individualised support to students as well as leading group and class sessions around wellbeing and mental health in response to needs, trends both within a local and international context.
The successful candidate will uphold the school values, and put pupils‘ wellbeing and character development at the heart of learning. They will be responsible for promoting high quality education for all students in an inclusive setting, showing respect for all within our community.
Requirements: We are looking for a committed, passionate and knowledgeable professional who will work proactively to ensure the best possible Counselling support for our students.
Responsibility:- Support students with their individual social and emotional needs through counselling or coaching
- To promote the Lasallian Mission and Core Values of SJIIS
- Work with students in individual, small group and classroom settings to facilitate their physical, emotional and skills development
- Support the Head of School, Deputy Principals and Assistant Principals with developing policy and practice in relation to wellbeing, mental health and safeguarding
