Job Description: IBM SVC and Spectrum Storage Specialist

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled IBM SVC (SAN Volume Controller) and Spectrum Storage Specialist to manage, maintain, and optimize our enterprise storage environment. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of IBM storage solutions, including SVC, Spectrum Virtualize, and other Spectrum Storage Suite components. They will work closely with IT teams to ensure data availability, protection, and optimal performance across our infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Storage Administration:

  • Manage, configure, and maintain IBM SVC and Spectrum Virtualize environments.
  • Perform storage provisioning, volume creation, and data migration activities.
  • Implement and monitor data reduction features like compression, deduplication, and thin provisioning.

2. Performance Optimization:

  • Analyze storage performance and implement optimizations using IBM Spectrum Control and related tools.
  • Monitor I/O performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.

3. Data Protection and Disaster Recovery:

  • Configure and manage Spectrum Protect for data backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations.
  • Ensure business continuity using replication, snapshots, and stretched cluster technologies.

4. Hybrid Cloud Integration:

  • Support hybrid cloud storage environments with IBM Spectrum Virtualize for Public Cloud.
  • Implement cloud-based storage solutions and ensure seamless data mobility.

5. Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Use Spectrum Control for proactive monitoring and alerting.
  • Generate reports on storage usage, capacity planning, and performance metrics.

6. Security and Compliance:

  • Ensure data encryption at rest and in transit.
  • Maintain compliance with data governance and industry standards.

7. Collaboration and Documentation:

  • Collaborate with application, database, and network teams to meet storage requirements.
  • Document storage architecture, configurations, and procedures for knowledge sharing.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

1. Technical Expertise:

  • Strong hands-on experience with IBM SVC and Spectrum Virtualize.
  • Proficiency in the IBM Spectrum Storage Suite, including:
  • Spectrum Scale (GPFS)
  • Spectrum Protect
  • Spectrum Control
  • Spectrum Archive
  • Familiarity with SAN architecture and protocols (FC, iSCSI, NVMe).
  • Knowledge of hybrid cloud storage solutions and integration.

2. Problem-Solving:

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve storage issues.
  • Ability to analyze system logs and performance metrics.

3. Tools and Scripting:

  • Experience with monitoring tools like IBM Spectrum Control or other third-party solutions.
  • Scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Python, or Shell) for automation.

4. Certifications (Preferred):

  • IBM Certified Specialist – Spectrum Storage Solutions.
  • IBM Certified Administrator – SVC or Spectrum Protect.

5. Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise storage administration.
  • Hands-on experience in managing large-scale storage environments with IBM SVC and Spectrum solutions.
  • Experience with data migration projects and storage modernization initiatives.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: Up to RM10,000.00 per month
