As a Legal Manager/Assistant Legal Manager, you will be responsible for providing timely and comprehensive legal advice and support (including drafting and negotiation of contracts) on commercial, operational, dispute resolution as well as legal and regulatory compliance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provision of legal services and handling broad base corporate and commercial matters (non-contentious and contentious).
  • Drafting, vetting, and negotiating various types of contracts and other documentation.
  • Advising on legal aspects and compliance for contracts and other documentation.
  • Managing and working alongside lawyers (local and foreign) engaged for project or transactions (if required) and on litigation/arbitration matters.
  • Any other ad hoc duties assigned as and when necessary.

Job Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Law, Legal or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years work experience in corporate and commercial matters. Preferably with knowledge of and experience in construction related matters (e.g. construction contracts, project/risk management and dispute management) and/or land related matters (e.g. conveyancing, leases, tenancies and property development).
  • Preferably having worked in legal practice and possess basic knowledge of litigation.
  • Strong analytical, drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Able to think commercially and quickly develop an understanding of relevant businesses and operating environment.
  • Able to appreciate the role of an in-house counsel and the commercial and practice context in which legal advice is provided or contract drafting is required.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong command of written and spoken of English and Bahasa Malaysia. Ability to converse in and write Chinese would be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of and experience in aspects of litigation or arbitration would be an added advantage.
  • Able to work independently and under pressure.
  • Possess a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Possess good working attitude and is a team player.
  • Highly self-motivated with a pleasant personality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Wiling and able to travel as and when required.
