Our client are a leading renewable energy developer with a focus on expanding their project portfolio across Asia. The operations span multiple countries, and they specialize in both onshore and offshore renewable energy projects. They offer an exciting opportunity for legal professionals to work on end-to-end projects, from origination to completion, in a collaborative and growing team.

They are seeking for an experienced Legal Counsel to join their dynamic legal team and provide comprehensive support across various regions in Asia. This role will involve EPC legal work for legal aspects throughout the project life cycle, from development to construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer advice on a wide range of corporate and operational matters, including land rights, permits, procurement, disputes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Draft and negotiate a variety of legal documents such as MoUs, term sheets, service agreements, and commercial contracts.
  • Work closely with external counsel on agreements related to share purchases, shareholder rights, credit support, and other critical legal documentation.
  • Assist in managing legal aspects of acquisition due diligence and project development, ensuring compliance with applicable laws across the APAC region.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of legal procedures, templates, and best practices to enhance efficiency within the legal function.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified lawyer in Malaysia.
  • Minimum 5 PQE in EPC matters, renewable energy sector or exposure to power projects would be beneficial.
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills, particularly in navigating complex regulatory landscapes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with various internal and external partners.
  • Experience working in a project-driven environment with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Assertive, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
