Job Summary:

The Purchasing Manager will oversee the procurement of raw materials, equipment, and services for the manufacturing of crude oil-based specialty chemicals and pharmaceutical products. This role is responsible for vendor management, cost optimization, and ensuring a seamless supply chain while adhering to quality and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Strategy: Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with business objectives and ensure a reliable supply of raw materials.
  • Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and establish strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement and quality materials.
  • Cost Control:Negotiate contracts, manage supplier agreements, and optimize procurement costs while maintaining quality standards.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels to ensure timely availability of raw materials for production while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure that all purchased materials meet required quality, safety, and regulatory standards, especially in the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research to stay updated on price trends, supply chain risks, and emerging vendors in the crude oil and pharmaceutical industries.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage the purchasing team, providing direction, performance feedback, and support for professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in procurement, preferably in the crude oil-based specialty chemical or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Strong negotiation, vendor management, and cost control skills.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
