Mechanical Design Engineer (Costing)

Duties and Responsibilities:

We're an Automation Company located in Penang Science Park at Simpang Ampat. This role will be placement in Application Engineering Department mainly for RFQ Costing calculation and need of Mechanical Design skill set.

Candidate who are currently involved in Mechanical Design and interested to involve in costing may apply to us!

• To study and understand the URS from the customer.
• To liaise with customer for clarifications and obtain further information. When necessary, travels to customer’s site to complete this.
• To develop the concept for the automation machine/system, and works closely with system control engineer in achieving this.
• To create the concept layout using SolidWorks or DraftSight.
• To liaise with suppliers in the quoting process, where necessary.
• To prepare total costs estimation for material and labour hours as required for the offering.
• To prepare the technical paper for the proposal using Microsoft Word.
• To review all aspects of the proposal with internal team and sales personnel.
• When necessary, travels to customer’s site with sales personnel for the presentation of the proposal.
• To prepare information required for the pass down to the project team when the project is awarded.
• To provide technical support to the project team, when necessary.
• Other duties and assignments as instructed by superiors from time to time.
• To comply to all requirements of ISO (inclusive of all standards approved by the Management) and to adhere to general safety practices, standard operating procedure, work instructions, policies and guidelines provided by the company.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent engineering field.
• Must have at least five years or above of experience in automation machine design.
• Ability to present and communicate in English.
• Self-motivated and good team player.
• Good knowledge in solid-modeling CAD software especially SolidWorks, and AutoCAD design software.
• Knowledge in using Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
• Good knowledge in electrical and control system of factory automation systems is preferred.
