Location : Marudi, Baram (Miri Division)

As the Assistant Manager (Conservation & Compliance), you will play a critical role in ensuring the protection and sustainability of our forested areas. Your key responsibilities will include:

A. Fire Management:

  • Plan and manage regular patrols to monitor forest conditions, detect fire hazards, and prevent illegal activities.
  • Lead fire response and firefighting efforts as part of the Fire Brigade.
  • Implement fire management plans, including prescribed burns and containment operations.
  • Conduct post-fire assessments and lead rehabilitation efforts.
  • Provide early warning systems and reports on fire weather conditions.

B. Forest Conservation and Restoration:

  • Plan and manage patrols to monitor forest health and detect signs of damage.
  • Support reforestation and restoration activities, including tree planting and nursery management.
  • Collaborate with local communities on sustainable forest use and conservation.

C. Communication and Education:

  • Assist in educational programs and outreach activities to promote sustainable forest use and conservation practices.
  • Raise awareness of forest conservation efforts within local communities.

D. Record Keeping and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of patrols, observations, and activities.
  • Provide regular reports to management on forest conditions, fire incidents, and other relevant matters.

E. Additional Responsibilities:

  • Conduct maintenance checks on equipment and vehicles used in patrol duties.
  • Organize team-building and training exercises to improve skills and teamwork.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirement

  • Diploma or Degree in Forestry, Conservation and related
  • Working experience in managing team of forester, surveyor, forest ranger and related
  • Familiar with Forest Department Sarawak, Sarawak Forestry Corporation, or related authorities.
  • Ability to work in remote areas with limited infrastructure and challenging weather conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with experience in managing people under high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to walk long distances in the forest and participate in overnight camping.
  • No health issues that would impede work in a remote setting.
  • A strong interest in forest conservation and management.
  • Forest survival skills, such as identifying edible plants, building shelters, and using a map and compass for navigation
