JOB PURPOSES

  • Provide independent and objective assurance and consultancy services to add value and improve the organisation’s operations (in particular on the effectiveness of governance, risk management, control and compliance processes).
  • The incumbent is to also assist in investigations and governance-related audits as assigned by the Head of Internal Audit.
  • The job also requires the incumbent to provide ongoing consultation to stakeholders as and when required and/or directed by the Internal Audit & Consulting Manager or the Head Group Internal Audit (Management, HODs and employees in general).
  • Conducts internal audits in conformance with the Internal Audit Standards and in accordance with Duopharma Biotech’s Internal Audit manual.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Internal Audit
    • Apply Internal audit procedures according to the audit engagement plan and internal audit methodologies.
    • Performing the full audit cycle, including risk management and control management over operations’ effectiveness, financial reliability, and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations as a self-contributor and with less supervision.
    • Select and apply the appropriate tools and techniques in the information gathering and analysis stage and performs audit procedures, including walk-throughs, preparation of narratives and business risk and control matrices; identifies control gaps and weaknesses, interviews, identifying and defining issues, developing criteria, reviewing and analysing evidence, and documenting processes. Evaluates current auditing procedures and propose changes as needed.
    • Obtain, analyse, and evaluate accounting documentation, previous reports, data, flowcharts etc and perform audit analysis and draw logical and sound conclusions.
    • Identify areas of concern and control issues, and recommend risk aversion measures and cost savings.
    • Identify areas where the auditee and the Organisation may require control improvements.
    • Prepare clear, well organised, logically sound working papers documenting the evidence and thought process supporting their conclusions.
    • Monitor their own performance against the allocated time for their work. Assist the team leader in controlling work in progress to ensure efficient and timely completion of assignments in support of the Annual Audit Plan.
    • Communicates the results of the internal audit assignments via written reports and oral presentations to the line management.
    • Provide frequent feedback on their internal audit work progress to the Team Leader and the Manager, and if required the HOD.
    • Work with the Team Leader to plan the allocation of audit work within the team, matching individuals’ abilities and experience to the requirements of the assignments.
    • Creates or assists in the creation of planning documentation, such as project budgets, scoping assessments, and audit programs according to Duopharma Biotech’s Internal Audit Manual.
    • Maintain effective working relationships with the auditees and adapt behaviour appropriately when dealing with different clients and staff grades.
    • Ensure that internal audit engagement deadlines and objectives are met.
    • To be an Internal Audit Team Leader if assigned by the Head of Group Internal Audit and/or Internal Audit Manager.
    • To perform internal audit procedures under the general direction of the Internal Audit Team Leader; to conduct walk-throughs for processes, and assist in preparing internal audit reports and audit programs.

    2. Investigations / Ad-Hoc Reviews

    • Identify situations that increase the probability of fraud occurrence during the course of the Audit that requires an ad-hoc review to address the identified red flags.
    • Assist in performing various audit and financial investigative procedures suspected of having committed fraud or abuse.
    • Collect and analyse data to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort, extravagance, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and management policies.

    3. Control Self-Assessment (CSA) Program / Consulting

    • Assist the Internal Audit & Consulting Manager in carrying out the CSA workshops and be part of the workshop by facilitating the risk and control reviews (“As a Facilitator”), done by the respective departments.
    • Assist the Internal Audit & Consulting Manager with ad-hoc reviews and consulting requests from the Management or the Board Audit Committee.

    4. Reporting (Internal Audit, Investigation and Consulting)

    • Identify preliminary key observations, findings, risk responses, and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
    • Produce a clear, concise, logical, and technically sound summary of findings/reports, incorporating the work of the team and feedback from the auditee for review by the supervisor. Document process and prepare audit findings memorandum. Prepares or assists in preparing drafts of audits or review reports that include the development of clear, constructive, and actionable recommendations to address risks identified.
    • Prepare the Internal Audit Final Draft Report incorporating the Management Action Plan and the Internal Audit Executive Summary that is to be reviewed by the Internal Audit & Consulting Manager and the Head Group Internal Audit.

    5. Administrative

    • Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding the industry and sector’s rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards.
    • Undertake other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Head Group Internal Audit (e.g. fraud investigation, etc.).

    REQUIREMENTS

    • University Degree/Finalist in Professional Qualification in Accounting or equivalent.
    • At least 3 years of experience in Internal Audit.
    • Accreditation with the Institute of Internal Auditors.
    • Requires at least five years of financial, operational, or compliance audit experience at a public accounting firm or in an internal audit department.
    • Requires a fundamental understanding of the IIA Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (IPPF) and the Code of Ethics.
    • Understanding of financial and managerial accounting, regulatory, legal, ethics & fraud, information technology, Governance, Risk & Control and organisation theory and behaviour.
    • Required computer skills in MS Office, accounting software and databases
    • Excellent documentation, communication and IT skills.
