JOB TITLE: Fabrication Planning Manager

Key Responsibilities



  • Direct project planners in consolidating and monitoring all Contractor and sub-contractor schedules, analyzing progress to detect deviations, and alerting the Project Team to issues and potential problem areas.

    • Use project planners to monitor Contractors' progress reports and intervene/expedite/comment as required to ensure reports are issued timely and accurately.
    • Develop systems and procedures for planning functions at the onset of the project and as additional requirements from the client arise, in order to facilitate project monitoring.
    • Ensure all planning system requirements are incorporated into major contracts.
    • Determine staffing requirements based on workload and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to the project planning team to develop, implement, and maintain project control procedures, project schedules (level 1-4), and reporting systems specific to the project.
    • Prepare progress measurement systems such as manpower histograms, which indicate the number of people required each month, and progress S-curves, which show the project's progress at a given point in time, to be reviewed at periodic intervals.
    • Monitor project progress for timely execution through weekly/monthly reports, reviewing overall project progress. Regularly monitor progress, and resolve any problems, bottlenecks, or scheduling conflicts.
    • Set up WBS and progress measurement systems for home office engineering and procurement activities.
    • Review updated schedules, analyze critical paths, alert management, and suggest remedial measures.
    • Perform productivity analysis of engineering disciplines and site sub-contractors. Coordinate internal project team reviews, followed by client approval and review of work schedules, progress measurement, and reporting systems.
    • Continuously review the status and keep the Project Director/Manager apprised of progress and areas needing attention for schedule adherence.
    • Ensure field project control documents such as construction schedules, resource histograms, reporting systems, commodity databases, and material control systems are fully developed and implemented by designated personnel, reviewed by Construction Management, and properly interfaced with engineering and procurement activities.
    • Set up leading indicators and prepare checklists for sub-contractors to ensure the timely start of construction activities.
    • Carry out schedule assurance checks and schedule risk analysis as required, and advise on action plans to mitigate delays, if any.
    • Participate in department development activities for continual improvement in the planning system and services.
    • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as directed by the HOD.

    Essential Qualifications And Skills

    • Graduate engineer with approximately 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, conversant with projects and execution.
    • Experience in home office and site planning.
