The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain processes. This role involves strategic planning, supplier management, sourcing and procurement, production planning, and logistics management to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and products. The Supply Chain Manager will develop and implement supply chain strategies, manage budgets, and lead a team to achieve organizational goals.
1. Strategic Supply Chain Planning:
• Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize the supply chain operations, including sourcing and procurement strategies, production planning, and logistics that align with the organization goals and customer demand patterns
• Plan and forecast inventory need of production components and production materials to ensure product availability and minimize stockouts to meet customer expectations
• Negotiate contracts, approve and vet new suppliers to secure the best prices, quality, and delivery terms for products and services based on parts/materials demand forecast and specifications
• Identify and mitigate risks within the supply chain, such as supply disruptions or seasonal demand fluctuations
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and responsiveness of the supply chain operations
2. Sourcing, Procurement and Planning:
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with sourcing, such as supply chain disruptions, geopolitical factors, and currency fluctuations
• Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies to maintain supply continuity and minimize impact on production schedules
• Development of efficient procurement processes and procurement cost/time, optimization of components/materials/parts, costing new items/products and technical aspects of management, monitoring of their application and scheduling of continuous improvement to ensure optimal material procurement/cost
• Collaborate with production to develop accurate production schedules based on customer demand forecasts, inventory levels, and capacity constraints to ensure uninterrupted and timely supply of materials according to production requirements
• Source for alternative suppliers/manufacturers for material/component supply, approved by the customer to ensure production continuity
• Analyze component supply market to identify risks in a timely manner to develop, justify and implement timely corrective actions to avoid material shortage risk
3. Logistics Management:
• Oversee logistics and distribution to ensure timely and accurate delivery of supply / customer products
• Oversee the coordination with customs and other regulatory bodies regarding LMW matters and verify all documentation / reports to ensure accuracy and compliance
4. Vendor and Supplier Management:
• Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to ensure the best quality, cost, and delivery terms for approved components and materials
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and distributors
5. Cost Management and Analysis:
• Analyze market trends, pricing structures, and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Implement cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality and operational efficiency
6. Performance Metrics:
• Set and track key performance indicators (KPIs) specific to supply chain operations, such as order fulfilment rates, delivery times, and inventory turnover
• Analyze performance data to drive continuous improvement in supply chain efficiency
• Regularly review supply chain performance, solicit feedback, and adjust strategies to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction
7. Personnel and Performance Management:
• Establish departmental KPIs aligned with organizational objectives and develop a reporting framework to measure performance
• Plan departmental resources, identify training needs and ensure timely implementation of training plans to enhance employee skills and performance
• Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Develop annual and periodic performance goals for direct reports and ensure departmental activities follow the agreed performance management system
8. Budget and Resource Management:
• Prepare departmental budgets in alignment with organizational goals and recommend approval by the managing director
• Ensure that departmental activities are in line with the budget, optimizing resource allocation and maximizing cost-effectiveness
9. Cross-functional Collaboration:
• Communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams effectively, including production, sales, and finance, to ensure alignment of supply chain activities with overall business objectives
• Provide regular updates on supply chain performance and initiatives, focusing on supply chain readiness and product availability
10. Others
• Ensure the IFS ERP system is set up to accurately develop and account for the entire supply chain management in accordance with group policies
• Any other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the managing director
Qualification & requirements
• Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics or related field.
• Proven experience in leadership roles in supply chain management including but not limited to sourcing, procurement, planning and logistics; experience in EMS industry would be an added advantage.
• Possesses strong cost awareness and analytical capabilities to effectively optimize expenditures and analyze market trends, pricing structures, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Experienced with market dynamics of hardware materials (cold-rolled sheets, aluminum sheets), plastics, and electronic components (diodes, transistors, MOS tubes, resistors, capacitors, inductors, magnetic cores, PCBs, LEDs, integrated circuits), as well as various packaging materials.
• Experienced with LMW operations and customs procedures.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate complex information clearly.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate, coordinate and support a team.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data to make informed decisions.
• Excellent command in Bahasa Malaysia and English language, both in written and spoken.
• Being able to communicate in Mandarin would be an added advantage
