JOB SUMMARY :
The Plastic Injection Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting injection molding machines to produce high-quality plastic components for the medical device industry. This role ensures smooth production runs by setting up and adjusting machines, optimizing process parameters, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. The technician plays a key role in ensuring that all molded products meet strict medical industry standards.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plastic injection molds, ensuring optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot issues with molds and conduct repairs, including disassembly, cleaning, and component replacement.
- Identify and fix wear and tear, damage, or tooling defects in molds.
- Assist with the setup, installation, and removal of molds from injection molding machines.
- Ensure proper alignment and adjustment of molds for efficient production.
- Work with production teams to troubleshoot and adjust molds during production runs to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Assist in mold modifications and upgrades as needed to meet production and quality requirements.
- Diagnose mold-related issues that impact product quality or production efficiency.
- Provide quick and effective solutions to reduce downtime and ensure continuous production.
- Maintain accurate records of mold maintenance, repairs, and modifications.
- Ensure all tooling-related documentation is updated and complies with regulatory and quality standards (e.g., ISO 13485).
- Liaise with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Work with the QA department to identify and resolve mold-related quality issues.
- Follow safety guidelines and procedures while working on tooling equipment and handling molds.
- Ensure compliance with medical device regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 13485) and QEHS requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to mold performance, cycle time, and product quality.
- Participate in training programs to stay updated on the latest tooling technologies and techniques.
- Set up, operate, and adjust injection molding machines according to production needs.
- Adjust machine parameters to optimize cycle times, reduce scrap, and ensure product quality.
Qualifications & Skills :
- Diploma or Certificate in Tool & Die, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a tooling technician in plastic injection molding, preferably in the medical device industry.
- Hands-on experience in mold maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in mold setup, adjustment, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with injection molding machines and plastic materials.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments and tools.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality.
Compliance Knowledge:
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 or other medical device industry standards.
- Understanding of QEHS (Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety) requirements.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work in shifts or normal when needed.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced and highly regulated environment.
