Position Summary

Responsible for overseeing and managing the internal audit function within the organization. This role involves developing and executing a comprehensive audit plan, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies (SOPs), and assessing risk management processes. The role will lead a team of auditors, provide strategic recommendations to enhance operational efficiency, and report audit findings and progress to senior management and Directors. It is required for this position to have strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of auditing standards, and the ability to communicate complex issues effectively. The position is also tasked to oversee the Process & Compliance activities for the business.

Key Responsibilities Area

  • Audit Planning and Execution: Develop and manage the internal audit plan, ensuring comprehensive coverage and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Risk Assessment and Compliance: Identify key risks, assess their impact, and ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare and present clear audit reports and findings to senior management and Directors, effectively communicating recommendations.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the internal audit team, focusing on performance management and professional growth.
  • Process Improvement: Evaluate and recommend enhancements to internal controls and processes based on audit findings to improve operational efficiency.
  • Review the monthly & quarterly Store Retail Excellence reports and identify areas of non-compliance requiring escalation to senior leadership team for improvement on future scores.
  • Review new and existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the organization when necessary.

Position Specification

Education

  • Minimum a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field.
  • MIA/CPA/CIA/ACCA/CISA, or equivalent professional certification is encouraged to apply.

Personal Experience

  • At least 10 years of experience in internal auditing, including substantial experience in managing audits for international entities
  • Preferably from Retail Industry and experience

  • Understanding of the regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse cultures and regions.
  • Strong execution skills with the focus on timely completion of tasks which includes planning, organizing and prioritizing with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research and analytical skills.
  • Experience auditing IT general and application controls or commercial experience from logistic, transportation and retails industries are preferred.
  • Confident, resourceful, analytical, attentive to details, team player and innovative.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.

Languages

  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia both in written and spoken. Ability to speak other language is an added advantage.
