Position Summary:

  • Assist patients with information and provides necessary food services upon patient admission.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Report for duties in a well groomed and proper uniform (hair cut, nails, uniform, shoes, pad, pencil, etc).
2. Attend briefing before start of shift and debriefing at the end of shift (attendance and take handing over instruction).
3. Check meal chart and diet chart of the patient at the beginning of the shift and note his dietary needs and note his brief medical history.
4. Ensure everything are in place before the service time to ensure agreed standards and flow of service of IPD and Café service.
5. Provide food and beverage services to Café/ In-Patients and their guest or visitors in a correct manner according to Café service standards.
6. Speak in a low and polite tone (empathetic) and communicate all information to the supervisor.
7. Keep track of all food services made during shift by maintaining proper service delivery and clearance records at the site.
8. Check the room for replenishment of water and other food amenities placed in the room as per the operating standards.
9. Provide food and beverage as per the prescribed diet (8 services per day) in correct service equipment and as per orders placed by the patient/ visitor (a la carte).
10. Maintain a clean and neat work environment (work pantry) and dining room.
11. Take proper handover at beginning of shift and give correct handover before leaving (including service and clearance cards).
12. Ensure everything are in proper place and see that only clean, dry and proper equipment is used for patient and other service as per the SOP.
13. Co-ordinate with room service order person and service supervisor for all room service orders.
14. Participate based on assignment in the Café service duties in service, delivery, table maintenance and customer greeting and seating processes.
15. Perform any other duties as assigned or directed.

Education and Requirements:

  • Certificate in Food Service/ Hospitality/ SPM
  • 1+ years of experience in a service industry
  • Be able to write and speak in both English and Bahasa Malaysia

Special Demands:

Food Service Steward can be assigned to any of two areas of operations that is the Café and IPD team by the Food Services Manager, both areas are directly involved in services provided to customers, visitors, patients and staff.
