Job Summary:
As a Cafe Service Crew Member, you are an essential part of our team responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of the cafe. Your role involves providing a welcoming atmosphere, taking customer orders, preparing beverages, serving food, and maintaining the cleanliness of the cafe.
Key Responsibilities:
• Customer Service:
Greet customers with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.Assist customers in making menu selections and answering questions about menu items.Take customer orders accurately and relay them to the kitchen or barista.Serve food, coffee, and other beverages to customers and handle special requests or modifications.
• Food and Beverage Preparation:
Prepare and serve a variety of coffee, tea, and other beverages.Ensure that all beverages are made to the cafe's quality standards.Prepare and serve simple food items such as pastries.
• Cash Handling:
Operate the cash register or POS system to process customer payments.Handle cash, credit cards, and electronic payment methods.Provide customers with accurate receipts and return change when necessary.
• Table Maintenance:
Set up and clear tables in a timely and efficient manner.Ensure tables are clean, properly set, and stocked with necessary condiments.Monitor and replenish items like sugar, cream, and napkins as needed.
• Cafe Cleanliness:
Maintain the overall cleanliness and organization of the cafe.Perform routine cleaning duties, including wiping tables, counters, and equipment.Ensure a clean and inviting atmosphere for customers.
Product Knowledge:Stay informed about the cafe's menu offerings, including ingredients, preparation methods, and portion sizes.Make recommendations to customers based on their preferences.
• Safety and Hygiene:
Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards.Handle and store food and beverages properly, ensuring they are at the correct temperatures.Report any safety hazards or incidents to a supervisor.
• Teamwork:
Collaborate effectively with fellow cafe crew members, baristas, and management to ensure seamless cafe operations.Communicate and provide support during busy periods to meet customer demands.
Qualifications:
• University diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in a cafe or food service setting is advantageous.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Basic math skills for handling payments and providing change.
Working Hours: Mitoya Gelato & Tea House Service Crew members may be scheduled for shifts that include afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays, in line with the cafe's operating hours.
