Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Tourism Lecturer to join our academic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in tourism-related subjects, developing curriculum materials, and engaging students in innovative and interactive learning experiences. The lecturer will also contribute to the continuous improvement of the tourism program and foster a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach tourism-related courses to diploma and degree students, ensuring curriculum alignment with industry standards.
- Develop and update course materials, lesson plans, and assessments that reflect current trends in the tourism industry.
- Evaluate and assess student performance through assignments, exams, and practical activities, providing constructive feedback for improvement.
- Conduct research and stay updated on tourism industry trends, integrating relevant insights into course content.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, supporting their educational and career development.
- Collaborate with faculty members to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the tourism program.
- Engage in professional development activities to maintain and enhance subject matter expertise.
- Contribute to curriculum development and participate in program review processes.
- Network with industry professionals to establish partnerships and promote internship or job placement opportunities for students.
Requirements:
- A Master's or PhD in Tourism Management, Hospitality, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a similar role, preferably in higher education.
- Industry experience in tourism or hospitality is strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- A passion for teaching and the ability to inspire students.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with e-learning platforms and tools.
- Knowledge of sustainable tourism practices.
- Experience in curriculum development.
- Ability to conduct research and publish in academic journals.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM1,500.00 - RM2,500.00 per month
